Residential, bedroom | Old Marston, Oxford
The bedrooms in this 1970s house were originally a blank canvas, with this bedroom containing a dated set of fitted wardrobes across the back wall. The client wanted a cocooning space to retreat to and was drawn to bold colours, but didn’t want the space to feel oppressive or smaller than it was.
We reconfigured the room by removing the wardrobes to fit in a king-sized bed and built contemporary fitted wardrobes in an alcove that was previously wasted space. We chose Farrow & Ball’s Oval Room Blue to embrace the north facing light and give a feeling that was warm, yet bold. Accent colours of red and dark blue are picked up in the soft furnishings and artwork to add contrast.
