Residential, living room | East Oxford
The client wanted to revamp their tired living room and had recently inherited a beautiful mid-century McIntosh sideboard. We used this as the inspiration for the room’s scheme, bringing in other mid-century pieces of furniture and fixtures. We accentuated the sideboard by creating a gallery wall above, set against pale blue walls to lift what was a dark north-facing room.
The under stairs area had a desk, but no other storage. The client is an avid reader, so we made the most of the space by building in bookshelves, storage cupboards and a new desk, finished in a rich blue that we carried through to the home’s entrance space. An elegant geometric wallpaper was used as the backdrop to the shelving, as well as the stairwell wall, creating textural interest.
